Building up the Body of Christ with welcoming arms, loving hearts and joyful worship.
Lamenting is a biblical term for expressing our frustration, sadness or distress to God. Please join us as we ponder this theme as a parish community, because during these last seven months there has been much to lament. We call it a "playlist" because it offers a wide variety of resources to choose from.
Don’t feel like you need to treat this playlist like “homework” or a list that needs to be covered in order, in its entirety. Instead, simply pick out what speaks to you the most and let it lead you where you need to go. The goal is not only to learn what “lament” is, but to give yourself time to lament and to reflect on the importance of lamenting.
Read the lament Psalms. Start with Psalms 13, 22, 42, 44, 43, 73, 88, 94, 139.

Too often, lament is thought to be contrary to faith, but Jesus teaches us this isn’t so — lament is an integral part of faith and prayer. How can we learn to lament without falling into despair, and what lessons can we learn from the gospels about what it means to lament like the Lord?
We look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences with lament.
